Five student teams from the Clark School's Department of Aerospace Engineering competed at the Society for the Advancement of Materials Process Engineering (SAMPE) '09 meeting in Baltimore this month.

Clark School students took first, second, third and sixth place in the Wing Design, Build and Test Competition. In addition, two entries were awarded second and third prize in the poster competition. Winning Clark School entries were:

Wing Design, Build and Test

First Place: Ben Woods (Ph.D.)

Second Place: Team Winging It – Robbie Vocke (MS), Andrew Becnel (MS), Nikesha Davis (MS), Vince Posbic (MS), Harinder Singh (MS), Bart Drake (MS), Talver Tari (UG), Pathik Shaw (UG) Ben Woods (Ph.D.)

Third Place: Team eXtreme Bengineering - Ben Berry (MS) and Ben Woods (Ph.D.)

Sixth Place: Team Sparse Chance – Ben Berry (MS), Miguel Polanco (MS), Kevin Buckley (UG) and Tracey Scindian (UG)

Poster Competition for Wings

Second Place: Team Winging It – Robbie Vocke (MS), Andrew Becnel (MS), Nikesha Davis (MS), Vince Posbic (MS), Harinder Singh (MS), Bart Drake (MS), Talver Tari (UG), Pathik Shaw (UG) Ben Woods (Ph.D.)

Third Place: Team eXtreme Bengineering - Ben Berry (MS) and Ben Woods (Ph.D.)

This is an annual event for the Clark School's SAMPE Student Chapter, for which Prof. Norman M. Wereley serves as the faculty advisor. The two project teams were from Prof. Wereley's ENAE-425/654 Mechanics of Composite Structures class.
