Roaming Access using Wireless Network is available in the Clark School of Engineering
All of the faculty, staff and students in the College of Engineering are eligible to obtain roaming access for their laptops in the Engineering Buildings that have Wireless Networking in place.

What is the cost for the end-user?
You need a Laptop and a Wireless Card (PCMCIA card, under $100).
How do I register for roaming access with my laptop?
To register for roaming access with your laptop you will require single session authentication, which means you will be required to authenticate each day. In order to use the wireless network a web browser login is required. Upon starting a web browser a login/authentication window will appear. At this point you will need to enter your University Directory ID. All users are required to authenticate via their Directory ID in order use the wireless network. Your Directory ID is used to log in to an increasing number of on-line systems at the University. If you are unsure of what it is, you can use the ID discovery tool. If you are unsure of what your current Directory ID password is, you can reset it atChange Directory ID Password.
Current Users and New Users will perform the following steps each day:

1. Open a web browser.
2. An authentication window will appear. The authentication window will look like the one pictured on the left.
3. Enter your University Directory ID and password on the logon page.
How do I give guest access to a campus visitor?
University of Maryland faculty and staff have the ability to sponsor campus visitors for temporary guest access to the UMD wireless network. Wireless access requires an authentication using the Directory ID and password. The Guest Wireless Access Tool will allow faculty and staff to sponsor up to four temporary Guest authentication IDs. Each ID is valid for up to 30 days.
Wireless Guest Account Registration
All you need to do is go to https://www.oit.umd.edu/guest/, log in with your Directory ID/password, and create a temporary account for them that lasts up to 30 days.
