Project NEThics

In the Fall of 1996, the Division of Information Technology created Project NEThicssm as an initiative of the University of Maryland to promote the ethical use of the Internet and to bring an identity to the team of individuals responsible for managing incidents of misuse of university computing resources. The mission of Project NEThicssm is to promote the responsible use of information technology through user education and policy enforcement.

Project NEThicssm consults with faculty, students, and staff on issues of legal and ethical use of computing resources, including interpretation of university policies. Project NEThicssm also serves as a resource to other colleges and universities in the state of Maryland, mid-Atlantic region, and across the United States.
